• Cultural landmarks are the soul and spiritual hub of a city. To consider the future development needs of the city, it has planned to construct “New Ten Cultural Facilities.” They include the Shenzhen Opera House, Shenzhen Conservatory of Music, Shenzhen Reform and Opening-up Exhibition Hall, the Shenzhen Creative Design Hall, New Hall of Shenzhen Museum, New Shenzhen Technology Museum, Shenzhen Book City Bay Area Store, Shenzhen Innovation and Creative Design Academy, New Shenzhen Art Museum, Shenzhen Nature Museum, and Shenzhen Marine Museum.
  • In order to meet the spiritual and cultural needs of the public, the city aims to build a sports and cultural facility system that matches global regional cultural centres and international cultural innovation and creative leading cities.
  • The Shenzhen Opera House is currently one of the key projects under construction supported by the government. It is positioned as a world-class high standard art hall, a new platform for international cultural exchange in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area, a new landmark of Shenzhen’s art and culture, and a high-quality coastal art living room for Shenzhen citizens.
  • As the most advanced performing arts venue in terms of comprehensive facilities and equipment in Shenzhen, Bay Opera of Shenzhen officially announced its opening to the public on September 17, 2021, with three operas: “La Traviata” by Central Opera House, “The White-Haired Girl” and “Sister Jiang” by China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre. During the opening season, the art centre presented more than 70 high-quality performances in various forms. In the future, Bay Opera of Shenzhen will focus on opera, drama, dance drama, musicals, classical music, and other comprehensive performances, supplemented by diverse and high-quality cultural and artistic activities, aiming to create an everlasting art feast in the western part of Shenzhen.
  • Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning launched its trial operation in 2017. It is an important carrier of education, culture  inheritance, and the development of contemporary art and urban culture.The total area of the building  is 91 thousand square metres. Inside the building from bottom to top are:the multifunctional base, the open plaza, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Museum of Urban Planning and Cloud Centre .There are 8 main galleries, a comprehensive exhibition hall, and exterior exhibition halls.
  • The Sea World Art & Culture Centre consists of four main exhibition halls: the Main Exhibition Hall, the V&A Exhibition Hall, the Gardens Exhibition Hall, and the Shenzhen UNESCO Exhibition Hall. It also features the remarkable Seamount Theatre, which offers an exceptional auditory experience, as well as the Sea View Multifunctional Hall, a space for various events. The centre continuously presents theme exhibitions, cultural performances, and participatory activities curated by outstanding domestic and international teams in design and interconnection. Since its opening in December 2017, the Sea World Culture and Arts Centre has gained considerable acclaim. It has been selected as one of the “Top 10 Most Anticipated New Destinations” by the popular travel magazine “Lonely Planet,” and named one of the “Top 100 Global Destinations” by Time magazine in 2018. It has also been ranked among the top three Asia Pacific leading cultural destinations in the 2018 LCD rankings.
