• The Maisonneuve Library is currently undergoing a renovation of its historic features and expansion, which will triple its footprint with two new wings and outdoor space. The project was completed in 2023.

• The City of Montréal, the ministère de la Culture et des Communications and the Borough of LaSalle have invested CAD$44.9 million in the renovation and expansion of L’Octogone Library.

• The Coeur-Nomade library project, due to open in 2026, will transform a vacant lot into a new 3,900 square metre cultural centre that promotes intercultural and intergenerational programming and exchange.

• Sanaaq cultural and community centre in Downtown Montréal, set to open in 2025, will include a library and archive, 250-seat multipurpose performance hall, community café, music and digital lab, play area for children, and multipurpose community rooms.

• An international design competition was announced in March 2022 to transform Espace Rivière. The CAD$46 million project will create a new learning and cultural facility, with community and recreational spaces.

• Théâtre de Verdure has been restored into a new 2,500 capacity open air theatre that reopened for its summer programme in 2022.

• Centre des mémoires montréalaises (MEM) will open as a new museum on ‘the history of the city by and for citizens’ at the Quartier des Spectacles towards the end of 2023.

• The new Esplanade Tranquille public space in the heart of the Quartier des Spectacles is a year-round, versatile, and all-ages destination.
