Investing In Culture

There is a large investment in culture across the city, with 194 new cultural spaces emerging including galleries, seven ‘Guandong Book Bars’, and 11 Cultural Tourism Service Centres to be built in business districts, subway stations, airports, industrial parks and other public places.

Heritage Sites

There is a renewed impetus towards preserving and promoting cultural heritage sites, including through novel funding formats, with Government partnering with enterprise or social groups, or investing in themed museums. The City is keen to support and exhibit intangible cultural heritage, including in the neighbourhood of Yongqing Fang, the city’s first intangible heritage community.

Digital Transformation

Digital forms of activity have increased over every part of life, from online shopping to office work. This transformation is also a driving force behind new developments in culture and tourism.

New Tourism

There is a demand for new forms of tourism, going beyond traditional sightseeing, especially among younger generations looking for a more diversified set of options in tourism, sports and leisure.
