• The Waterloo Greenway is a 1.5 mile long park with cultural spaces, it opened in 2021, including the new 5,000 seat Moody Amphitheatre. It received $9 million in federal funding for the second phase of the project and once complete will have 35 acres of connected green space  The City’s Design Commission has approved plans for the $27 million expansion of Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Centre by architects Miró Rivera Architects and Tatiana Bilbao Estudio including new outdoor event and programming space.
  • The relocation of Dougherty Arts Centre, expected to open in 2024, will create a new 45,000 square foot arts centre including a community art school, a 150-seat theatre, a smaller black box theatre, rehearsal studios and 5,000 square foot gallery.
  • A $2 million gift is supporting development of the new Buckman Centre at the University of Texas, Austin, creating a laboratory for students studying immersive and experimental media.
  • The Blanton Museum of Art at the University of Texas received $5 million to create the new Butler Sound Gallery, an outdoor sound garden adjacent to the popular Ellsworth Kelly immersive chapel.
  • A major renovation of the seven acre Kingsbury Commons within Pease Park opened in the Summer of 2021.
  • The historic Austin French Legation Museum reopened in 2021 after a two-year restoration, which features a new visitor centre, retail space and café.
