Art Advisory Panel
Melbourne’s Public Art Advisory Panel has an Indigenous quorum and guides the development of the public realm. The panel has an array of arts, cultural, architectural and urban design expertise and is responsible for overseeing the city’s public art framework, which includes a programme of temporary and permanent works.
Pop-Up Library
Melbourne’s pop-up library programme is taking over temporary spaces in unexpected locations around the city. Unlocking the potential of some of the city’s lesser-known areas and encouraging the community’s love of books and creativity. The pop-up libraries feature best-selling books, access to Wi-Fi, bespoke ‘Make-It Spaces’ and ‘Express Book Bars’ with a range of work by local artists on display.
Outdoor Dining
Melbourne is extending its outdoor dining programme, creating unique dining experiences in on-street carparks, laneways and on footpaths. The programme has more than doubled Melbourne’s outdoor dining, re-energising the city’s food scene.
Covid Recovery
Melbourne is finding innovative ways to support Covid-19 recovery. As part of the AUD $200 million Melbourne City Revitalisation Fund joint partnership between the Victorian Government and City of Melbourne, the ‘Midweek Melbourne Money’ dining scheme offered 25% back to customers who dined in the city mid-week. This programme was extended to the entire state of Victoria, covering entertainment as well as hospitality spending, and had a positive flow on effect to other sectors with more than 160,000 diners saying they also shopped, attended sporting events, museums and live music events during their visit.
