## **The Purpose**

Kyiv Digital is a mobile application created by the city in 2021. Working on the principle of “city in the phone,” it combines an increasing number of city services. Kyiv plans to make the application one of the main tools of communication between the city and its citizens. Its purpose is to technologize the Ukrainian capital, as well as implement and support urban projects.

## **The Challenge**

The main challenge is the introduction of state-of-the-art security technologies. This issue has been especially aggravated by the war because the system is vulnerable to hacking to obtain strategically important information, which in turn threatens the lives of the population.

## **The Solution**

Kyiv Digital marks a new era in the evolution of the city. The application allows the user to replenish a transport card via their smartphone, buy QR tickets, pay for parking, return a car, receive notifications about housing and community services, and vote for city improvement projects.

## **The Impact**

Urban services have become easily and quickly available via smartphone, without bureaucracy or queues. During the war, in addition to citywide information, several helpful functions have been added to the app, relating to military operations throughout Ukraine (shelter map, volunteer assistance, alarm messages).
