Digital Growth
Stockholm has seen the growth of its digital cultural sector, with the city’s cultural producers increasing their range of concerts, performances and events offered online.
Older Online Users
There has also been a new trend of older people using social media and e-commerce.
Expanding Cultural Access
The city wants to expand cultural access for both children and the elderly by developing more community centres and programming to reach these groups. As well as increasing cultural education and experiences in pre-school and primary school.
Urban Planning
Cultural infrastructure and heritage are becoming more firmly rooted in urban planning, with culture as a driving force for the city’s development work.
Effects of Hyperlocalisation
Hyperlocalisation, as a result of more people working from home and growing e-commerce is creating demand for more vibrant cultural spaces throughout Stockholm’s neighbourhoods.
Role of Libraries
The role of libraries in city life is being reinforced by a new 2022 – 2025 Libraries Strategy for Stockholm. The strategy supports smaller libraries as hubs of local cultural activity and public library employees now go through a mandated User Experience (UX) training.
