The World Cities Culture Summit 2023 was hosted by the City of São Paulo from 25-27 October 2023 under the theme of ‘Culture, Courage and Leadership for a New World’.  

Covering topics from AI to climate change, power sharing to culture in conflict, city leaders discussed the most pressing challenges faced by the world’s leading creative cities today.  

Over 140 representatives from 40 cities shared experiences and tips for leading with creativity, resilience in the face of uncertainty and a changing world. 

Who attended? 

The São Paulo Secretary for Culture, Aline Torres welcomed over 100 civic leaders from World Cities Culture Forum’s network of global cities including Amsterdam, Bengaluru, Buenos Aires, London, Paris and Tokyo.

The Summit took place across São Paulo’s cultural venues including SESC Pompeia designed by renowned architect Lina Bo Bardi, the Auditorium in Ibirapuera Park designed by Oscar Niemeyer, Teatro Municipal, Pinacoteca and Centro Cultural São Paulo. Delegates learned more about the city’s arts and culture and their public programmes.
