A new programme for leaders shaping the future of global cities.

2026 Global Fellowship Cohort

The Global Fellowship is a first of its kind programme designed to empower the next generation of cultural leaders from the World Cities Culture Forum, in collaboration with Dubai Culture & Arts authority.

Effective city leaders understand that cultural policy is at the heart of thriving cities. We believe culture is a golden thread, supporting our communities, health and wellbeing, attracting tourists and boosting economies. Despite this critical role, there is no formal training or route for civic cultural leaders and policymakers – they learn on the job.

The Global Fellowship addresses this gap by building a global talent pipeline for cultural leadership, equipping city leaders with the skills, mentorship, peer networks and knowledge to shape the future of culture in cities worldwide.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Ambitious mid-career leaders, experts or advisors with over 10 – 15 years’ experience working in cultural policy within partner cities or city-affiliated institutions.

WHAT THE GLOBAL FELLOWSHIP OFFERS

A bespoke learning programme to support leaders working on a strategic cultural priority in their city. All Fellows will work on advancing a priority project for the duration of the programme benefiting their city.

Fellows participate in the annual World Cities Culture Summit, an international residency, and an online masterclasses exploring cultural city-making, leadership and management with selected speakers so far including Anne Hidalgo (former Mayor of Paris), Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr (Mayor of Freetown), and Ricky Burdett (LSE Cities).

A PARTNERSHIP WITH DUBAI

The Global Fellowship is co-founded with Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, a legacy from the Dubai 2024 World Cities Culture Summit and affirms the shared commitment to future generations of culture city leaders.
