Utilising Space

The shortage of vacant space in Paris and new approaches to urban planning are resulting in a wider range of uses for former factories, parking lots and other locations. As such there is an increased cultural use of new, temporary and provisional spaces throughout the metropole.

15-Minute City

With the pandemic there has been a push to create “15-minute city” neighbourhoods throughout Paris. Schools are often positioned as the “capital” of a neighbourhood, offering cultural and sport activities with the participation of local communities.

Locations Network

An urban network of local indoor and outdoor locations is emerging, dedicated to all artistic practices, for rehearsals and performances. It encourages the participation of local citizens, whether as amateur artists, emerging artists or audience members.

Olympics 2024

Preparations for the 2024 Cultural Olympiad are a priority for the City’s cultural officials. Long-standing ambitions for the Olympiad are to reach out to widen access and reduce inequalities for audiences and improve cultural offerings for all citizens through new and improved facilities.
